Evi Naria studied for a Bachelor's degree in Agronomy at Andalas University, Padang, for a Master's degree in Public Health at the Universitas Indonesia Jakarta, and for a Master's degree in Public Health at the Universitas Sumatera Utara, Medan. Since 1993 he has been a lecturer in the Environmental Health specialization at the Faculty of Public Health, Universitas Sumatera Utara in Medan, with the functional position being Associate Professor. Quantitative and qualitative research carried out covers the field of Environmental Health, especially Sanitation. Experience in community-based basic sanitation management research which includes clean water management, waste management, family latrine management and wastewater. The research was carried out in various settings, namely in densely populated urban areas and communities around the coast. Research on basic sanitation conditions in several areas, to provide interventions to the community, and assistance to families in managing basic sanitation is a field of study by researchers. Some of the studies carried out by researchers are Sanitation Management Information Intervention Through Short Message Service and Telephone on the Implementation of Community-Based Total Sanitation (STBM), Home Environment Sanitation Intervention and Family Nutrition in Efforts to Control Environment-Based Diseases in Urban Slum Areas. Subsequent research on the Analysis of Implementation of Community-Based Total Sanitation Self-Monitoring (STBM) in Households, Analysis of Family Resources on the Quality of Household Sanitation. Research on the Family Empowerment Model in Basic Sanitation Management in Households conducted by researchers has resulted in a novelty in the management of household sanitation by families in the form of family empowerment, namely an agreement on the division of tasks for sanitation management in families to improve the quality of basic sanitation in households. Publication in several reputable national and international journals. Published articles include the Effect of Providing Information Through Counseling, Short Massages Service (SMS), Telephone on Improving Sanitation in Slum Areas, Medan Maimun District, Medan City, Improving Environmental Health Through Reduce Reuse Recycle and Trash Cans With Attractive Pictures at High School in Percut Sei Tuan Sub-District, An Analysis on Task Division of Household Sanitation Management in Dense Settlements in Binjai North Sumatra Province. Sanitation publication with family empowerment, namely Exploring the Potentiality of Family Resources on Basic Household Sanitation Management in Dense Settlements of Binjai in North Sumatra Province of Indonesia, was published in a reputable international journal.
